Tips from LA DWF tip411 program help Operation Game Thief program

Louisiana Operation Game Thief, Inc., a Louisiana wildlife crime-stoppers program, awarded $9,500 to diligent citizens statewide at its recent quarterly meeting in Woodworth.

The LOGT board reviewed a total of 21 cases that included public tips from 23 informants. A total of 31 subjects were apprehended and 236 offenses were written in conjunction with the reviewed cases. The LOGT has paid out a total of $368,400 since inception in 1984.

The incidents included 13 deer cases, four turkey cases, and the illegal cutting of trees on the Spring Bayou Wildlife Management Area among a few others.

New tip411 program launched by Hazard, KY PD helps notify public, find suspect

The Hazard Police Department’s (HPD) latest investment seems to be paying off after a man-hunt for an armed robber in Hazard Friday evening was cut short thanks to information shared across social media outlets via the tip411 service.

Michael Scott Thompson, 31, of Hazard, was arrested Friday night after allegedly attempting to rob two area businesses.

Hazard police, along with KSP, rushed to get the word out about Thompson, with the HPD posting on Facebook about it.

“The post was shared 186 times and viewed by 7,280 people in a little over two hours,” the HPD posted on their Facebook page later Friday night.

Borger, TX PD re-introduces tip411 Public Safety Alert System

The Borger Police Department recently re-introduced the tip411 alert system from CitizenObserver, an interactive way to keep the community connected and informed through email, text message, and online public safety alerts. Tip411 also allows the public to report crimes and other suspicious activities directly to police by sending anonymous text messages from their cell phone.

“We believe an informed community is a safer community,” said Chief Bruce Roberts. “The tip411 system has allows our department to engage with the public and share information that will help make Borger a safer place.”
