The Atlantic City Police Department (277 sworn officers) in New Jersey sees success with anonymous tips through the tip411 tool.
A concerned citizen provided anonymous information through the tip411 tool to Detective Christopher Dodson regarding a male who possessed a handgun.
Officers then acted on this information and found the tip to be credible after the suspect was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun and was immediately taken into custody.
The suspect was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of a defaced firearm, and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
The Atlantic City Police Department mobile app is available to download for free from the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Store. Citizens can also submit an anonymous text tip via their cell phone by texting the keyword “ACPD” and their message/tip to 847411.
